Oils have texture, sumptuous color and blend beautifully. They are forgivable by nature which makes for a more relaxed painting experience. Prepare to enjoy this 4 day workshop, which will start with Erin doing two (2) small value studies in sepia watercolor to establish her values. Next she will do a large oil painting based on the best study and you will learn volumes about paint application, nuances of value and color, and telling the best story using the fewest elements. Erin uses a palette knife, but you are welcome to bring your brushes instead. You will learn to shift your thinking from Foreground, Middle Ground and Background to Shapes, Values and Edges , while enjoying Erin s lighthearted manner and way of seeing in full spectrum color.
The plan is to paint outdoors, so pack up your easel, clothing layers, visor and prepare to hit the byways. However, bring along photos in case of bad weather. One on one interaction is of the utmost importance. Critiquing will take place throughout the day on an individual basis. On the 14th we will spend the day at the Lavender Fields , painting, watching the sunset and enjoying a supplied dinner. The work shop will close with a time of gathering together to view the work as a group and share various highlights of the experience.
